Corinthian Helmet Pendant/Charm

The helmet I made last time was nice, but this time made something flat so it will hang better around someone's neck. Again in greek style but hope to do others as well soon. So stay tuned for more.

More Medieval Stuff: Brass Helmet Pendant

Continuing from the flail I made, again started with a brass half sphere and then decided to make a "Corinthian" helmet, came out better than I expected.

Scale Model Flail

This is what you get when you watch Game of Thrones and have some brass lying around: a scale model flail ready to do battle in the nearest dollhouse :) Was fun making this, never made a brass ball from sheet material before, chains were nice job too, didn't think this would work with such small pieces of brass, but then again, circular brass chainlinks would have been the real challenge, these are just triangular in shape and bent shut, no soldering used on the chain. Brass was put in ammonia to get that dark look (and some blue). If you're interested in this let me know. I'm getting quite interested in medieval weapons now, who would have thought!

New Try at Knife Handle

I've just finished another knife handle. It's a plain vegetable knife from the supermarket but this time it's all about the handle. Compared to previous ones this one is quite fancy. It has a wooden part and an epoxy part. Also known as Micarta in the business, I made this myself: layers of fabric soaked in epoxy create a wonderful and tough handle material, semi translucent like ivory or bone. Another first is the brass pin in the shape of a bullseye, layered brass and red plastic tubes fused together with epoxy. Hope you enjoy it.
